Sustainability events to celebrate Plastic-Free July.
Plastic Free July® is a global movement that encourages millions of people worldwide to join in being part of the solution to plastic pollution which is having such devastating impacts on our oceans, waterways and in our communities.
There are 10 Neighbourhood Houses in the City of Whitehorse conducting a range of programmes and activities on the doorstep of your local community… so come along and learn how to live a more sustainable plastic free life.
Visit your local Neighbourhood House in July & August to do your share in waste reduction. The locations and activities are listed below.
Koonung Cottage:
Pop-up recycling activities at Laneway – South Parade, Blackburn.
When: 10am -12pm on 12th, 19th and 26th July or Upcycling clothing at Koonung Cottage monthly.
When: Monthly from the 17th July 1 – 3pm.
Box Hill South Neighbourhood House:
Beeswax Wraps workshop.
When: 26th July at 10:30am or Composting workshop.
When: 4th of August at 10am.
Louise Multicultural Centre:
FOGO bins information session in Chinese
When: 25th July.
Kerrimuir Neighbourhood House:
Bio-diversity session.
When: Date to be confirmed.
Bennetswood Neighbourhood House:
Share your waste reduction ideas during July & vote on most innovate ideas. When: During the month of July at the house.
Burwood Neighbourhood House:
We are collecting plastic bottle tops, old reading glasses, old mobile phones, men's clothing, plastic bread tags, ring pulls and excess fruit off your trees. When: During the month of July at the House.
All these activities will be free or low cost, so contact your local Neighbourhood House and get involved in making the world a better, more sustainable place.
